Clay Fire provides services to the following areas:

  • Clay Township
  • German Township
  • Harris Township 
  • Town of Indian Village
  • Town of Roseland

Location

Clay Fire is located in northern St. Joseph County in Indiana. It is bordered by:

  • Elkhart County to the east
  • Michigan state line to the north
  • The University of Notre Dame, the City of South Bend, and the City of Mishawaka to the south
  • Warren Township to the west

Population

The population serviced by Clay Fire is approximately 70,000 residents.

Staff

Firefighters are split between three platoons operating in two battalions. All personnel provide emergency services from five community-based firehouses. Clay Fire is a combination department with:

  • 71 full-time firefighters
  • 24 part-time and on-call firefighters
